EuroCOP are honoured to share this open letter from our members and friends from The All-Ukrainian Trade Union of the National Police.
The Union has taken on the responsibility of assisting the families of police officers during this difficult time for the entire country. From the very beginning of the war, they have been working to evacuate the children and wives of police officers to safe areas within Ukraine. Unfortunately, modern military technologies have made it impossible to find truly safe places, as missiles can reach almost anywhere. As a result, their children continue to live and study under artillery shelling, air raid sirens, and explosions. All of this severely affects their psychological well-being, development, and overall health.
In response to these urgent needs, the Trade Union has initiated a program to organize rest and medical care for the children and wives of police officers in European countries. This work continues throughout the entire year. However, they are facing a significant challenge: almost all police vehicles are engaged in patrol duties or are assigned to units directly defending the country on the front lines.
Therefore, they respectfully request your assistance in providing the Trade Union with two tourist buses, each with a passenger capacity of 50 or more, for the transportation of police officers’ children within Ukraine and abroad.
Additionally, they ask for your help in continuing the program for the children of Ukrainian police officers, particularly by supporting the organization of summer camps for Ukrainian children in European countries. This program, already being implemented with the support of the European Committee of the Regions (https://cor.europa.eu/en/our-work/priorities/cor-stands-solidarity-ukraine/summer-camps-ukrainian-children), provides children affected by the war not only with the opportunity to rest but also with a chance for psychosocial rehabilitation in a safe environment. We hope that, with your support, this program will allow even more police officers’ children to find temporary safety and recovery.
We sincerely hope for your cooperation and assistance in these extremely important initiatives.
