A Guardia Civil Police Officer has been condemned to 9 months sentence in a military prison as a result of an argument with his superior.
EuroCOP have shared the below statement on the issue.
“EuroCOP over many years have been lobbying in EU institutions to abolish the Military Penal Code of conduct in times of peace, used for disciplinary purposes for Police Officers in the Spanish Guardia Civil .
Our position is clear, these Police Officer’s should be subjected to the same code of conduct and disciplinary regulations that all other police officers in Spain are subjected to.
We shall continue to utilise our voice in EU institutions by raising this matter in order to achieve a satisfactory solution.”
