EuroCOP welcomes the adoption by the European Parliament of the Resolution on the need to reduce work-related fatalities and in particular its recognition of the structural and permanent risks faced by law enforcement officials and emergency responders in the exercise of their duties. Members of the European Parliament have acknowledged the increasing violence faced by public authority officials performing law enforcement duties, which justifies specific recognition of the nature of the risks involved. This recognition represents an important step forward in raising awareness about violence against police officers and strengthening discussions around health and safety at work.
